ARUNACHAL, ASSAM ON FLOOD ALERT - AFTER CHINA RELEASES WATER - HIGHEST IN LAST 50 YEARS

ALERT IN THE NORTH EAST An alert has been sounded in three Siang districts of Arunachal Pradesh and in Upper Assam after China informed India that the water level of the Tsangpo river was rising .  The water discharge in the Brahmaputra basin by China last week is highest in last 50 years. ABOUT TSANGPO RIVER   Brahmaputra starts from Tibet where it's called as Tsangpo ,and then flows to Arunachal Pradesh where it's called as Siang and then came to Assam where it's called as Brahmaputra . The Siang joins two other rivers - Lohit & Dibang -- downstream to form the Brahmaputra.   CAUSE The report from the Chinese government said the Tsangpo was swelling because of heavy rain in China .  The various GD (gauge and discharge) stations on the Tsangpo had observed a discharge of 9,020 cumec water on Wednesday morning, reportedly the highest in 50 years. BACKGROUND Hope, everyone remember the Date 8-Nov-2016 - when Prime Minister Narendra Modi  announced high-value currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 would cease to be public tender.  In the biggest-ever demonetization exercise India had seen. Government of India's Ministry of Civil Aviation announced guidelines for remotely piloted aircraft — or drones as they are more commonly known — which will come into effect from 1 December , aiming to open up an array of opportunities in the Indian civil aviation sector. ODHISA TO GET - 'LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL'

WHAT JUST HAPPENED? Odhisa is all set to get a Legislative Council like several other states in the country. A proposal in this regard was approved at a Cabinet meeting presided over by Chief Minister 'Naveen Patniak' . Now, voting will be done in this regard in the upcoming state monsoon session which is going to begin from September 4. Below is the proposal: The minister said that the proposed council will have 49 members , which is one-third of the 147 member state assembly. The state will have to spend 35 Crore rs annually for the council , the members of which will get salary and allowance as given to the members of the Legislative council. IS ODHISA GOVERNMENT TOOK THIS DECISION SUDDENLY? No, It took a while to take this decision of setting the 'Legislative Council'. PUNJAB's BLASPHEMY LAW - SECTION 295AA PROPOSED - A DANGEROUS IDEA

WHAT JUST HAPPENED ? The Punjab's government recently decided to expand the scope of India's desecration law. It proposed to add Section 295AA to the Indian Penal Code to make injury, damage or sacrilege to Shri Guru Granth Sahib,Srimad Bhagwad Geeta, Holy Quran and Holy Bible with the intention to hurt the religious feelings of the people a crime punishment with life imprisonment.   Section 295 already exists. So, 295AA will make this stronger. As of now, this is just a proposal. To make this law, Punjab Government need to pass this in 'Punjab State assembly' and once passed in 'Punjab State assembly' then it go to Centre.
