ISRO SPY CASE - NAMBI NARAYANAN - CONTROVERSY
BACKGROUND
THE DIFFICULT TIMES FOR NARAYANAN JI
According to Naraynan ji, the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and State Police officials interrogate him ad wanted him to make false accusations against the top brass of ISRO. But he refused to comply.
He was tortured by the officials until he collapsed and was admitted to hospital
WHO IS NAMBI NARAYANAN ?
In the early 1970s, Narayanan had introduced the liquid fuel rocket technology.
He said that the liquid fueled engines will be required to execute ISRO''s Civil Space Programme in future.
Narayanan along with his team with his French assistance developed the Vikas Engine.
The Vikas Engine is used by the ISRO to launch its rockets including the PSLV (that took Chandryaan-1 to the moon) and GSLV.

FALSE CASE
When all the allegation on 'Nambi Narayanan' - He was on his prime stage and
due to this allegation ( which later on proved False ) ISRO face so many loss.
WHY THIS NOW IN NEWS?
In April 2017, The supreme court begins hearing on Mr. Narayanan's plea, seeking action against former Kerala DGP and other who had probed the matter. (Because without any evidence they created a case and spoil his reputation)
On September 14, 2018 - Supreme court awards 50 Lakh Rupee compensation to 76- Year old Mr. Narayanan for being subjected to mental cruelty in the ISRO spy case.
IS THERE ANY EXTERNAL POWERS WHO SPOILED ISRO ?
In one of his interview 'Naraynan ji' told - some external power (indirectly referred CIA - USA Intelligence agency ) was involved who wants to spoil the ISRO name by putting some allegations on Top ISRO scientists.
Because, 1991 to 1999 timelines was very important for ISRO, INDIA.
In 1991, Naraynan ji signed an agreement with Russians for cryogenic technology in 1991. and we were supposed to finish the entire programme by 1999.
But the target was achieved only in 2014 - all due to these False acquisition on Naraynan ji, ISRO is behind 14 years now.
Otherwise, Whole world, in 1990's itself knew the power of ISRO and we would became a competitor in the commercial use of the technology. (When only Americans and Russians were dominating)

- In OCT 1994 - 'Mariam Rasheeda' (The Maldivian Women) arrested for allegedly obtaining secret drawings of ISRO rocket engines to sell to Pakistan. [In simple terms - many secret drawings of ISRO rocket engines found with Mariam Rasheeda and there was allegation on her that she wants to sell all this to Pakistan]
- In NOV 1994 - 'Nambi Narayanan' , director of cryogenic project at ISRO arrested along with Deputy Director of ISRO and many others got arrested. and allegation was put on them that there was a link of all of these with 'Mariam Rasheeda'. The police accused him of passing on documents and drawings of ISRO to Pakistan.
- Narayana was arrested and was lodged in jail for 50 years.
- BUT, police did not found anything ordinary in Naraynan house and did not show any signs of the corrupt gains.

- In April 1996,(after two years) CBI files report before a Kerala court , says espionage case is False and there was no evidence to back the charges.
- In May 1996,Court accept the CBI report and discharges all accused.
- In May 1998, Supreme court awards compensation of 1 lakh to Mr.Naryanan and others.
- In April 1999, Mr. Naraynan approaches the NHRC (National Human Rights Commission) claiming compensation.

THE CONSPIRACY
- In 1992, India signed an agreement with Russia for transfer of technology to develop cryogenic based fuels for Rs 235 Crore.
- US & France offering the same technology for Rs 950 Crore and Rs 650 Crore respectively.
- Documents shows that US president George H.W. Bush wrote to Russia , raising objections against the agreement and threatening to blacklist the country. [This is a proven fact] and Russia at that time denied cryogenic technology to India.
- To Bypass this monopoly, India signed a new agreement with Russia to fabricate four cryogenic engines - without a formal transfer of technology. (India found another way). But USA also don't want this. and This not happen too as the spy scandal surfaced in 1994.
