INDIA'S FIRST MISSILE TRACKING SHIP

WHAT JUST HAPPENED?

 India is preparing its FIRST MISSILE TRACKING SHIP. And It will be ready soon around Nov/Dec 2018.

Built by "Hindustan Shipyard Ltd" on the Visakhapatnam port.

 It is being built under a confidential programme which is directly under the control of the Prime Minister Office and National Security Advisor.

 Due to confidential programme, Media don't know much about it.

DESIGN AND DESCRIPTION

 Consider a "topmost secret project", a lot of confidentiality is being maintained in executing the project costing about Rs 750 Crore.

As of now, There is no such name given to this ship. For Now, It's simple referred as VC11184.

It will have a crew complement of 300 personnel and will carry a single helicopter.

 The ship will also have a special team from 'National Technical Research Organization' board.

NATIONAL TECHNICAL RESEARCH ORGANIZATION

The NTRO(National Technical Research Organization) is a technical agency under the National Advisor in the Prime Minister's Office, India.

NTRO will have the same "norms of conduct"  as the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW).

WHAT IS TRACKING SHIP?

A tracking ship, also called a missile range instrumentation ship or range ship, is a ship equipped with antennas and electronics to support the launching and tracking of missiles and rockets.

Tracking ship used to increase the missile range.

 Tracking ship itself does not have any missile. But it will control/support the launching missile and rockets.

 DUAL PURPOSE FOR INDIA

If any country launch missile on India, then this ship find it's trajectory. Also, If we launch some missile then this ship helps in increase it's range.

The VC11184 is one of the largest warships to be built at an Indian yard, weighing in at over 15,000 tonnes. 

 This ship has two diesel engines which will generate power of 14 MW.
'Visakhapatnam' is considered a strategic location on the East Coast for the defence forces as it is a home for Ship Building Centre.

 With this ship, India will join the likes of the Russia and China, as one of the few countries will advanced ocean capabilities.
 

There isn’t a lot to say about the VC 11184 since it’s a ‘topmost secret project’ entailing strict confidentiality.
