SIKH PILGRIM CORRIDOR - INDIA-PAKISTAN - SHOULD INDIA BE CAUTIOUS ?
WHAT HAPPENED HERE
Recently, Punjab minister Navjot Singh Sidhu visited Pakistan to attend Imran Khan’s swearing-in ceremony.
Imran Khan - is a Pakistani politician and former cricketer who is the 22nd and current Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Navjot Singh Sidhu - is an Indian politician, television personality and former cricketer. He currently serves as the Minister of Local Government, Tourism, Cultural Affairs, and Museums of the State of Punjab.
During This visit there are some criticism & controversies related to his ‘hug’ to Pakistan Army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa. But, We will not discuss those things here.
During visit, Navjot Singh Sidhu mention the word - SIKH PILGRIM CORRIDOR.
Also Stated that, Pakistan is going to provide 'Sikh Pilgrim Corridor'.
So,we will discuss What is Sikh Pilgrim Corridor. Why Pakistan is providing this corridor. What all are concerns here.

Punjab Minister Navjot Singh Sidhu has claimed that Pakistan Army Chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa has told him that Islamabad would open a corridor to 'Gurudwara Darbar Sahib' at Kartarpur in Pakistan's Narowal District on the 550th birth anniversary of Guru Nanak next year.
This means, the Indian pilgrims primarily of Sikh Religion can visit the 'Gurudwara Darbar Sahib'.
Please Note: There is No Such Offical Statement from Pakistan's Government. But It was believed that Army chief runs the Government from Back-end. So, If he is saying this statement, then Perhaps this may be True.
THE GURUDWARA DARBAR SAHIB -WHY THIS IS SO MUCH IMPORTANT IN SIKH RELIGION?
Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur is a gurdwara in Kartarpur, Narowal District, Pakistan, 120 km from Lahore.
The Shrine is located by the River Ravi within a distance of four kilometers from the Dera Sahib railway station. The gurdwara is located very close to the border with India.
From long time Sikh in Indian demanded the Government to do such thing so that they can visit Gurudwara.
There have been long demand from the 'Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee' and political leaders to build a "Corridor" flanked by barbed wire to allow pilgrims to cross over into Pakistan to visit the 'Kartarpur Darbar Sahib' and return the same day.
And Finally from Pakistan side, a positive signal came.
A bridge will need to be constructed over the river and there shall be no need for Passports or Visa.
PROBLEM
Pakistan support the Khalistan Issue. Example: In this year there is an article in 'Indian Express'
Posters of “Sikh referendum: 2020 Khalistan” in gurdwaras in Pakistan, which are being visited by Indian pilgrims, have angered India.
The issue of Sikh referendum has been a sore point for Indian diplomats in Canada, UK, US, Germany, Australia among several countries, where pro-Khalistan groups have been calling for a referendum.
“But we have photographs to prove that Pakistan authorities are
trying to incite Sikh pilgrims and interfere in our internal affairs,” a
South Block source told The Indian Express
This Kind of Banners
Whenever any Indian visit Pakistan Gurudwara Sites, There they see posters which demanded Khalistan which directly/indirectly influences them.
INDIA WORRIES
Sikh Referendum:2020 Khalistan : is an Imaginary concept of people living outside India like Canada, UK,US,Germany and stated that in 2020 a voting should be done in Punjab, whether Punjab wants separate country by separating from India or Not.
That's why Indian Government is concerned. This is the reason, India government is cautious and wants to know the intention of Pakistan Government.
Let's see, How this Indian Government handle this gesture.
