SAUDI ARABIA vs CANADA - DIPLOMATIC WAR

WHAT JUST HAPPENED

Saudi Arabia  and Canada - full on diplomatic crisis.

 Saudi Arabia has declared the Canadian Ambassador "persona non grata" and given him 24 hours to leave the country.

 In diplomacy, a persona non grata  is a foreign person whose entering or remaining in a particular country is prohibited by that country's government.

The Saudis have also called  their ambassador back from Canada.
Suspended "all new business transactions and investments linked with Canada" 

Cancelled direct flights to Toronto by Saudi's state airline.



 HOW THIS ALL STARTED

 All this started from a tweet.

In terms of human right activists - Saudi is not a shining example. Many other countries condemn Saudi for human rights views.

 There are two female Saudi human right activists - Samar Badawi  and Nasimma al-sada.

Both activists fight for woman rights

Both had been detained by Saudi Authorities.

 THE TWEET
Canada’s foreign minister, Chrystia Freeland, tweeted she was “Very alarmed to learn” of Samar Badawi’s arrest, adding, “Canada stands together with the Badawi family in this difficult time, and we continue to strongly call for the release of both Raif (Sister of Samar Badawi) and Samar Badawi.”


The next day, Canada’s foreign ministry issued a tweet calling on Saudi Arabia to “immediately release” Samar Badawi as well as “all other peaceful #humanrights activists.”


That royally pissed off the Saudi government.


In a series of tweets on Sunday, Saudi’s foreign ministry slammed Canada’s statement as “an overt and blatant (Bad behavior openly ) interference in the internal affairs of the Kingdom of #SaudiArabia.” 

This is Candada Trend - They always interfere in other countries internal affairs In 1984 Sikh riots - Canadain ministers many times give statement on which Indian government also slammed.

WHAT HAPPENED NEXT

The Saudi Government also froze all all new trade with Ottawa.

Ordered 16000 students in Canada  to either return home or complete their students in another part of the world.

And Cancelled all direct flights to Toronto via its state airline. 

Saudi Arabia stopped all medical treatment programs in Canada and is coordinating for the transfer of all Saudi Patients currently receiving care in Canadian hospitals to be moved outside of the country.

 The Saudi central bank and state pension funds ordered overseas asset managers to offload their Canadian equities , bonds and cash holdings "no matter of the costs"

WILL THIS IMPACT CANADA

In last year the trade between Saudi and Canada is of about $4 billion with a significant portion stemming from a controversial deal to sell combat vehicles with a machine guns and cannons to Saudi

So this deal will get STOP, as Saudi Arabia imposed trade freeze.

Saudi Arabia is Canada's 17th Largest trade partner. 

So definitely loss to economy ( However it will be small )

WHAT WAS THE RESPONSE BEEN AROUND THE WORLD?

European Union and U.S does not give any statement in favour of Canada as they themselves are currently dealing defence deals with Saudi Arabia ad they don't want lose.

The Other Arabian Countries have all stood by Saudi Arabia.

WHAT CANADA CAN DO NOW?

Canada can do Publically Apologize. But Canada has its own Pride.

And second thing is there is election coming in Canada and if they Apologize then it means Canada are anti-feminist (as all this matter related with womens). 

And Canada Prime Minister 'Justin Trudeau' want to win in next election.

So, if Canada Apologize then Canada Women go against and they don't vote to Justin Trudeau.

The one thing is Canada can use diplomatic back-door channel through other country to get their dispute sorted.
